Ginkgo biloba planting in Sofia: one year after the start up

Sofia, one year ago, 23-rd of November: 113 Ginkgo biloba seedlings were planted during the day.
89 in the South Park, behind the City Center, 21 along Evlogi Georgiev Bulevard, 3 in the garden in front of the National Theater.

Today, 24-th of November, 2009: over 60 of the Ginkgo plants are still alive.

The initiator and the organizer of the planting was Ms Miglena Angelova. At this time she was the key-speaker of "Iskreno i lichno" talk show that was running on Nova TV.

I was among the people invited for the event. Fortunately I took with me my personal heavy duty spade. It helped quite a lot. Almost nobody of the men and women gathered together knew how to plant Ginkgo seedling.
I, myself, together with Ms Boriana Boeva, a friend of mine, replanted all the 113 Ginkgo seedlings during the same day and the day after.
A month later I replanted for the second time almost all the seedlings, did a mulching and made by stones a round tree-bed for every plant. In August, 2009, somehow all the stone borders of the tree-beds disappeared.
During the year, sometimes alone and sometimes with the help of Ms Boeva, I planted 25 Ginkgo seedlings, grown by me, at the places of somehow disappeared or heavily injured ones.
In the summer time Ms Boeva watered three times by hand the Ginkgos in the South Park.

I have been looking at this project from its very begging from multiple viewpoints.
Let me mention three of them.

First, as an expert in planting and growing Ginkgo biloba, I understood very soon that I have to play an unique key-role in this process.

Second, as artist using Ginkgo biloba plants as a media of expression, I've been considering the process as ecovention.

Third, and last but not least, as a holonist, I've been looking at it as a holonistic life practice consisting mainly of conscious labor for the welfare of all the holons from the biosphere and noosphere of the Planet Earth.

Plant for the Planet: 7,422,171,408 trees planted already

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has launched a major worldwide tree planting campaign. Under the Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign, people, communities, business and industry, civil society organizations and governments are encouraged to enter tree planting pledges online with the objective of planting at least one billion trees worldwide each year. In a call to further individual and collective action, UNEP has set a new goal of planting 7 billion trees by the end of 2009. The campaign strongly encourages the planting of indigenous trees and trees that are appropriate to the local environment.

The number of the trees planted as of today, November 25, 2009, is 7,422,171,408.

5,621 of those trees were planted in Bulgaria.
